Jasmine Boyle, an all-star track athlete, is now on a different kind of track, one to saving $1,000 since signing up for Mindbosa in April of 2018. A lover of pizza (BIG TIME) and puppies, Jasmine finds comfort in both quiet nights at home and outdoor weekend adventures. When she's not running, she hikes, bikes, climbs, kayaks, you name it! She leads by example of hard work and dedication and is an advocate for healthy active living. I asked Jasmine to share her Mindbosa experience with us.
What was your absolute biggest challenge with saving money prior to signing up for Mindbosa?
My biggest challenge was the ease of accessibility to my money. I put “aside” money into a savings account, but it was right there and easy to transfer if I needed it for rent or small emergencies.
How did the challenge of saving money make you feel?
Irresponsible and not in control. I made attempts to save in the past that didn’t work for me. I knew saving would be a big step I would eventually need to take in post-graduate life.
What changed after using Mindbosa?
I feel very in control and consistent with my savings. It's an account I'm adding money to just about every day. I make a point not to touch my Mindbosa savings until I have completed my goals.
What specific results can you share?
I’m very proud of the time in between the Maine Half Marathon and Millinocket Half that I saved $300. Initially, I was saving for much needed training sneakers, but I decided to use my savings towards spending money in Millinocket (in lieu of a free race and no registration fee). I even had spending money leftover, so it evened out as far as using my savings towards what I needed and what I wanted.
What would you say to somebody on the fence about signing up for Mindbosa?
Just do it! The best part, it’s all at your own pace. You can make deposits every day, or sit down once a week and take a look at what you’ll be depositing. It’s a great habit to get into!
Anything else to add?
Think of something you usually do every day or once a week and start with that as your goal. If you’re going out of your way to do something for a deposit, it’ll be tough to start and keep going. Whereas if you’re depositing dollars for every mile you run/walk, or every ounce of water you drink, you’re depositing for something you are already doing, so it’s easier to find the motivation and feel the reward of creating a daily saving habit.
